I'm a beginner so I don't always choose the right yarn for a project. This yarn was so beautiful I couldn't resist getting it so I could make my mother a shawl. This yarn had no drape at all. I attempted to make it drape by wetting and hanging several times for days. I also sprayed it in hair conditioner water to soften it. It's just not shawl material. Very beautiful but stiff and sturdy. The sparkle is gorgeous.
Used this yarn to crochet a quick tree skirt for my Christmas tree. It worked up quickly and beautifully. I'm really pleased with it.
Loved the color and texture. Works up so smoothly on a 5mm crochet hook . And the metallic gold thread does not split or separates from the yarn; which makes your crocheting much easier! Really impressive!

This yarn is knitting up very nicely. I started out making a wedding blanket but the pattern and yarn I chose I think will be better suited for a baby blanket. Unfortunately I had to return a few balls of yarn and that was hassle free.
The yarn is easy to work with. I will choose it again for another project.

I am sorry I have never given a bad review for anything I have bought from Mary maxim but I am for this yarn. The gold thread that is twisted around this yarn to make the sparkle is thin and breaks continually as you are using it so you end up with big areas that have no sparkle and then a bit more and then none again. Don't like it at all and would never buy it again.

This yarn looks pretty on the website. But, it is so much more gorgeous in person! The sparkle is amazing! I was also surprised how nice the yarn is. It was very enjoyable to work with. It is a little scratchy; but, it was perfect for my purpose - making a decorative Christmas Afghan.
It's a great yarn. Soft on skin, warm and comfy! Works up well!
I bought the ice blue, after there was a mix up on my first order - and they refused to pay for return shipping - it was their fault... Anywho... I love the Ice Blue... Not sure about their return policy...

I used the Starlette sparkle in Topaz, (gold sparkle) and Starlette Cardinal, (the best red ever!), to make a longtime dear friend a Tree of Life blanket. Turned out better than I’d hoped. The picture doesn’t really show the gold thread, but it did really “Sparkle” in real life.
