Create a special gift for your favorite bird-lover with this graph-style pattern! When completed, the approx. size is 48 x 58" (122 x 147.5 cm). Originally created with Mary Maxim Starlette yarn, which offered 180 yds per skein in 2009. Please note color options and yardage may have changed. Materials List: Natural (14 balls), Black, Med, Grey, Dk Yellow, Soft Yellow, Brown, Camel, Dk Green, Lt Green, Red, (70 yds each), Charcoal (105 yds), Lt Grey, Dk Brown, Soft Taupe, White, Periwinkle, Med Blue, Lt Blue, Bright Red, Dk Red Dk Rose (35 Yds each), Lavender (20 yds). Also needed: knitting needles size 8 (5 mm). Feel a sense of accomplishment when you create this heirloom piece!
Stitch Requirements: Cast on, cast off, knit, purl, repeat, increase, decrease, SK2P, SP2P, color changes.

I made a pair of mittens and a gift bag with this yarn for a couple celebrating their 50th (golden) anniversary. Lovely yarn for the perfect golden anniversary gift!!!
Delightful and easy project., It does use Reverse SC for a border finish, a stitch that can challenge beginners, not to mention "oldies" like me. I found reducing tension just a bit make a pretty border with even stitches.
The directions are very good and there are detailed directions for the Reverse SC shown on the last page.
These are fun to make and will make lovely small gifts for those special people you like to remember at Christmas.
Easy to make and turned out so cute. I just went and ordered two more kits, the blue dangle and the red and white Christmas tree.

I am finishing my last bird block, then i have 9 more lace blocks and the border. Instructions were clear, pattern is beutiful and the afghan will be a beautiful gift for my mom, and avid bird watcher. I wish the graphs were labeled with the type of bird, just for my own entertainment, bit my mom will find the breeds when she has the finished product. I will likely be putting a lining on the back to cover the floats from the graphs. I am fairly new to knitting graphs (an adventurous beginner or an inexperienced intermediate), and although i was able to get the front side beautiful, the back shows my inexperience! I carried the main color throughout, as i couldn't figure how to do it otherwise. Right now, at 10.5 blocks in (halfway through) i have only used about 1000 yards of the main color. The pattern calls for 2520 yards, so i do believe i will be ok to finish at or below recommended yardage despite the extra use in carry through. Thank you for a beautiful pattern!
