Instructions

I’ve been knitting for 50 years. This one had me stumped. I’ve done several intermediate knitting projects. Even the little 5” doll outfits for my grandchildren. I just couldn’t do this one :disappointed:

I just finished making this

I just finished making this poncho and it is beautiful. The yarn is very soft and easy to work with and the pattern was fun to work on.

Not satisfied?

I have knitted and crocheted a long time. This pattern is very hard to follow. I would like to return it. I am looking for my papers on it so I can send it back. Let me know if you can help me. I have purchased from you for about 30 years and never had to return anything. Sorry about this. Marion Bowers, [****]

Horrible instructions!

The pattern is like a double moss stitch, but instead of the 2 knit and 2 purl being side by side they are stacked on top of each other...row by row. It’s a pretty design, but the instructions are bad! I’m an experienced knitter. I have attempted the beginning instruction 7 times! Began using other yarn after second attempt because I didn’t want to ruin the tweed by ripping it out too many times! If I got different outcomes every time, then I would know the issue was me! ...but I keep getting the very same issue EVERY TIME! I’ve read and reread the instructions and it ALWAYS ends up with the same issue. The issue begins in round 4. The designer gave instructions for marker placement, which is nice. Each round has a set of instructions which you repeat twice. The problem is at the beginning of the set of instructions for round 4 and continues on to the rest of the rounds from there. The beginning “section’ of the repeat for round 4. It is caused by the yarn over from round 3 that is placed AFTER the marker, which by the way, at the end of round 3 this same yarn over is placed at the beginning of the next row. So, what happens is you have two sections which are not following the moss pattern, and those two sections aren’t even doing it the same way! One section simply continues repeating the same knit or purl that was in the previous round, which it should have changed to the opposite stitch to create the double moss stitch, and the other section has created a single moss stitch. If you correct this, then you have to continue making corrections for EVERY ROW! and because of the way the designer does the increases, that’s not always an easy fix! I have asked Mary Maxim for corrections twice, but they have remained silent! Not even an email to notify me they were even looking into the issue!! Since I bought this in a kit because the pattern wasn’t available any other way at that time, the price was several dollars more than the cost of just the yarn, so I paid for this defective pattern! NOW, the pattern is available for free! But not worth it since it needs corrections!
