Knit any of these hats or mittens with our vintage pattern. These were designed using Mary Maxim Northland bulky weight yarn that offered 80 yds per skein at the time. Shop our wonderful selection of bulky yarns for your projects. Be aware of yardage differences. Fits children 4-6 years—Intermediate knit.

Boys Toque and Mitts: All Sizes:
Allow 1 - 4 oz skein of the main color for the Toque and Mitts with approx. 2 oz each of two contrasting colors. Originally, this was knit in Navy, with red and white diamonds and pom poms.

Girls' Bonnet and Mitts: All Sizes:
Allow 1 - 4 oz skein in each of two colors, for both the bonnet and mitts.
Knitting needle size U.S. 9 (5.50 mm) and a crochet hook (to make the ties).
Stitch Requirements: Cast on, cast off, knit, purl, repeat, increase, decrease, slip stitch, and color changes using Fair Isle knitting method.
