Although I know you can't pick the colors, this is well worth the chance because the quality of the yarn is very good. The first order I made had nine bags of this yarn in it and the colors sent were all very nice - white, several shades of gray and brown, salmon, mint and deep wine. The yarn works up nicely and quickly due to the thickness. I am able to use by favorite join for chenille with this yarn as the core strings are very strong. My join (learned from YouTube) is to strip an inch of fuzz off the two ends, overhand knot to pull them close until the two fuzzy sides match up, then tie several surgeons knots and end with an over hand knot. For extra security, I personally part the fuzz and apply a small dab of flexible stretchable fabric glue to the knot, push the fuzz onto it, wait until it dries a few minutes, then trim the ends of the core string level with the fuzzy pile. I am already well into a donation blanket with the first order and very please with the yarn. NO shedding so far and high quality yarn. So nice, I just ordered more so I can make even more donation items for our local food bank that does more for our fellow community members in need than just give them bags of food.
The yarn is absolutely beautiful and despite some of my order coming in in the wrong line of yarn cusyomer service handled it quickly and with increidble friendliness! This is the level of customer care that has been missing in my life

My first order from Mary Maxim. I am using the Mellowspun dk Dove yarn for a waffle stitch throw. This yarn is easy to work with (I’m a beginner) and is so very soft. I can’t wait to cuddle with it. Ordering was super easy and I love the various discounts and sales.

Mellowspun material is soft & light. The project I crocheted ended up a bit thinner than I expected it to be, so the shape of the toddler sweater was a bit stretchy but it's ok. I would order again. I like the Denim color & looks lovely finished.

I understand that colors may vary from dye lot to dye lot, but I ordered denim blue and got gray.
The label does say denim, but it doesn’t come close to the color on my previous order or the color shown on the website.

Mellowspun DK crochets up beautifully. It’s wonderful for throws and blankets. The yarn resists pilling, and is great for colorwork. It also runs through the washer nicely and blocks well for those who block their projects. It’s one of my favorite DK’s.
The color does not match the online image. The yarn I received is a much lighter shade. It will not work for the project I planned, but I like it and will try to use it for something else.
Works up great and easy on the hands
Chose this yarn for my second ever crochet project, first time ever making a baby blanket. The yarn arrived quicker than expected. It is so soft and easy to work with. The strands don’t unravel easily either. I’m very happy with my purchase. This is the first time I’ve purchased yarn from somewhere other than the big box craft stores, and I’m happy to say I plan to do so again!
