Use this pattern to knit classic Aran cable and make this stunning throw. Originally created with Mary Maxim Aran Irish Twist or Aran Irish Tweed, which offered 205 yds per skein at that time. Please note, that yardage may have changed. Requires 36" circular knitting needle size U.S. 10 (6 mm). Finished measurements approx 44 x 60" (111.5 x 152.5 cm).

I ordered many skeins of this bulky yarn both from Mary Maxim and Premier. Both have comparable prices although Mary Maxim has a few more colors. Whether this yarn is being discontinued or not, it's a top-notch yarn. A nice thick bulky yarn, thicker than the Puzzle solid yarns, but of the same twist, if that makes sense. I've made 2 blankets with this yarn, no complaints in its quality. It's a dream to use, easy to frog, no twisting or splitting, just a pleasure to work with. Now the ends to fray a bit due to the twist. . . But leaving a long tail, thoural weaving in the ends, a drop of fabric glue helps. Of course I'll be buying more!

Very confusing. Hard to knit in a straight line when you're flipping sheets of paper while trying to figure out, " where am I now?"
Not only is this afghan pretty, it was easy to make if you're proficient with cables. I eliminated the fringe because we don't like it in our face. There are a few differences between the pic and the actual pattern but similar enough.
I haven’t had time to go over the pattern as yet. I’m ready hoping that I’m able to do the patterns. I think that the Aran Afghans are gorgeous.

I have not made the throw yet as I making another throw from Mary Maxim . The Aran Sampler throw will be my next project. Have read the pattern instruction. Appear easy to follow
Love this pattern, but am concerned on the size - or maybe I read the pattern wrong. I am using a size 4 yarn and size 10 needles and after 240 rows the throw is not close to the expected size. Did I read the pattern wrong? Are there more than 240 rows?
I did not start working on this pattern, but the one I ordered is hard but great. I just love it. It was worth waiting for

Very satisfying project
The instructions are good. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is I wish the wool was just a bit softer, but otherwise it is coming together nicely

Mary Maxim is a very respected developer of knitting and other craft patterns. I have not yet knit the aran blanket but looks like very clear instructions .
