The Premier Anti Pilling DK is my absolute favorite acrylic yarn. I have texture issues and this is the only acrylic yarn that ive been able to use on a large project. It supper soft and silky to work with and glides over my fingers as I’m crocheting. It’s also a great quality yarn that will last for years to come. I can’t wait to try the new super fine addition to the Anti Pilling family as I live in Florida so like blankets and sweaters to be in the lighter side.

I have crocheted six of MJs sweaters in the last 3 years but this is my first kit and first time using MJs yarn. Mary Maxim makes the process very easy by offering kits - they arrive in a clear reusable zipper bag with heavy printed patterns making it easy to start crocheting.
The only thing I have to say is greatness. I got 3 boxes of the same yarn, but a little bit of a difference in each one. If you buy more than 2 maybe make the boyarn different. I love them really addicting.
I saw this is beautiful. As soon as I finished with my current project I’m going to start this!

PATTERN REVIEW: The pattern is well written and eat to understand. The issue I had was a dual problem with the yarn type and my tight crochet style. I had no issue with the gauge for the collar, band, and cuffs using the recommended 4.0 mm hook. I attempted the yoke 5 times with different sized crochet hooks trying to achieve the stitch height needed. The Prism yarn is stretchy so even though I still didn’t come close to the correct height with a 6.50mm hook, the width of stitches was too wide. I finally decided that instead of all dc’s, I would alternate rows between dc’s and treble crochets with a 5.50 hook. The dc’s were fine but the trebles were too loose. So I ended up doing dc rows with the 5.5 hook and the treble rows with the 5.0 hook.
YARN REVIEW: I do not care for Prism yarn. It was the first time I tried it. While the skein felt soft, the yarn when working with it feels scratchy and so did the parts of the sweater I crocheted. Also, the yarn is thinner than other 3 weight yarn, and caused a ripple in the back of the sweater.
I ended up using a substitute yarn for both the trim (Premier Anti-Pilling DK) and the body (Lion Brand Mandala). Both of these yarns are the weights I am used to encountering with 3 weight yarn.
It took longer to make the adjustments than it did to actually crochet the sweater, which I successfully finished in 3 days (in the afternoons/evenings). I would recommend the pattern with the caveat that others may need to adjust hook/stitches to get the desired measurements depending upon your personal crochet style. It’s a very cute sweater and I plan to make another one. Both will be Christmas gifts.

Turned out just as pictured. Quick & easy to work up. Received many compliments. Only downside is not machine washable, and Prism yarn got fuzzy after just a couple wearings.
Loved the sweater. The yarn is very soft - great for a kid. I miss judged the size I needed but very happy that it is something she can grow into.
The it looks amazing and along with the written pattern comes a link to an online video tutorial which I think I personally find VERY helpful as I have a problem following written patterns most times.
