Double Chevron Throw

The yarn is so soft and the colors are beautiful.

I love all the items that I bought I make the afghans and then donate them to mums and babies :baby:

I love the look of this throw , the kit has everything you need and it arrived in reasonable time . The yarn is a little tricky to work with but gets better after you work with it I have starting my second throw and have two more to do some of my family loved it, the pattern is very easy to follow and the throw is a really nice weight when you get it finished . Very different and beautiful throw.

I love the colors but I'm not thrilled with the yarn. It is thin and splits easily. I have made many mary maxim sweaters with no problems but this has been a challenge.

After looking at the kit for months I finally purchased it. I have been a Mary Maxim customer for many years and have knit many sweaters with the heavy yarn. I am so disappointed with this yarn. It is thin and splits easily. I have been very frustrated with this. I am an expert knitter and have to watch this so closely. I have 5 strips done but am so frustrated with the yarn!

Love the pattern I'm on my 3rd one. I throw it in the washer and dryer comes out great.

Some yarn is bad, gets real thin, color got covered completely.

Very pretty coloring. Yarn a bit tricky to work with - too easy to split the fuzzy !

When I saw this kit for a Double Chevron Throw, I thought what a handsome birthday gift this would be for a dear friend of mine! The order came swiftly and it was packaged with loving care. The Prism yarn is so soft and the rich, vibrant colors are gorgeous! (At the time of order, I chose the yarn colors "Sunset" for Prism and "Mocha" for Mary Maxim Best Value.)
Even though some of the reviewers shared concerns about the quality of the yarn, I felt the pattern was worth exploring since the stitches were simple enough and I’m of upper beginner/intermediate skillset. (Strangely, when I checked this link as of this writing, 6/14/2021, the reviews did not show up!)
I had to buy the knitting needles elsewhere as they did not come with the kit. The website did not carry them which made no sense. I also had to provide my own crochet hook.
Even though the pattern was simple and repetitive, I never worked with this yarn before. Bamboo knitting needles are not the right kind of material to use with this fiber; it kept sticking, splitting, and my attempts at making the swatch failed miserably! Any mistakes I made was a nightmare to correct as the yarn, even though it’s an acrylic fiber, actually felted!
I really wanted to make this throw for my friend, so I bought an aluminum set of the needles, changed my knitting technique and re-worked the pattern. So much better…!
I did contact the company to offer feedback and got an automatic e-mail replying the staff is way behind on their correspondence due to COVID which is understandable. Still I haven’t heard from them since other than a request for a review and it’s now 1/18/2022.

Does anyone else find this yarn too light for the recommended 4.5 mm needle? I started it and tore it out. Looked terrible. Love the colour though. I am a tight knitter too and there is no way this would result in a solid afghan as in picture. If I use a much smaller needle the blanket would be very small and require a lot more yarn. Not sure yet what to do with it because it isn’t cheap.

Am making snowflake sweaters now for my grandboys amd their kids. Working on #8 After Christmas will relax. With the Afghan

I AM PRETTY DISAPPOINTED THAT WHEN I HAD TRIED TO ODER THIS? FOR MY AUNT WHO LIVES IN NEWFOUNDLAND.. AND I RESIDES IN ALBERTA, THAT I am UNable to.. BECAUSE THE BILLING ADDRESS HAS TO BE THE SAME AS THE ONE WHERE I AM CURRENTLY LIVING? REALLY STUPID. I GUESS YOU are NOT too concerned about making a sale?

Beautiful pattern The yarn isn’t machine washable I returned it sadly

Prism Yarn is super fuzzy; hard to use for knitting; texture of stitch pattern gets lost in the fuzz.
I’ve been knitting and crocheting for over 50 years, inexperience didn’t play a part in my problems with this project.

The misleading photo shows strips of ivory, with blue/purple highlights. The yarn I received is gray with blue/purple highlights. While the gray works (barely) I really had my heart set on ivory. I’m very disappointed.

The colors are so much nicer looking than online. The way they blend, can't wait to start.

I am working on this throw right now, and can’t wait to see when it is finished. The colours are eye catching. Kit comes well packaged in zipper bag, which can be used for storing the throw. The pattern is easy to follow.

I did not notice when I ordered the kit that the yarn was not machine spun. The throw looked very old worn as I started knitting, The yarns colors were absolutely gorgeous. I purchase all my yarns at Mary Maxim exclusively. Love Mellowspun and Starlette yarns

Have not tried it yet but will be in the next month or so
