I was sent a 'corrected' pattern so I skipped ahead in my project schedule to try this one out. After comparing the two written patterns with the video tutorial, it seems the right number of chains to start with would likely be 196, as described in the video. When I started with 196 chains and followed the original given pattern, the braids and twists began to take visible shape within a few rows, and stayed consistent after that. So, overall, I found the video tutorial more helpful than the corrected pattern and, once I got past the foundational rows, the braids began to take shape quite smoothly to form a lovely textured blanket. :)
I'm disappointed in how loose the stitches are. I checked the height after using half the yarn and it is much taller than it should be. The width is closer. I used the recommended hook size of 6mm. Part of the problem is the yarn which seems on the thin side. Also the weight of the cables and other design features that causes the stitches in between to be stretched.

I'm disappointed. The original pattern had lots of errors. I received a corrected pattern ; it still has at least 2 errors. I did call Mary Maxim on 11 June. The person I spoke to told me that they would call me back. That has not yet happened.
I did ask that that they not call me back on 12 June, since I was scheduled for surgery then, but I said I could certainly speak with them on 13 June or thereafter.
The yarn is so soft!!! I love the color too!!! The yarn is easy to work with!!! I love BagO Day kits and yarn!!!
