Mary Maxim Aspen Yarn with New Patterns!
Heather Mango |
Here at Mary Maxim, we have been anxiously awaiting the new Aspen range since we first saw the samples months ago. We hope our customers are just as excited as us for this new release! When we are developing yarn, we get samples along the way and get a chance to knit and crochet with them and make tweaks until we feel they are where we want them to be and everyone would love working with them. During this process, Aspen blew us away! The colors are so rich and it has an amazingly soft hand; you would never know it was 100% acrylic unless you read the label (or tried to felt it!). The strands have a slight "halo" to them giving the look of wool , as well as a roving type twist of the colors, which makes a subtle self-stripe when you work with it.
Aspen is available in 6 rich colors, each with flecks of various color woven in. Aspen is considered a Bulky weight yarn with 130 yards per 3.5 oz ball and we are suggesting a size 10.5 (6.5 mm) needle. The gauge is 13 stitches and 18 rows to 4 inches using this needle size.  We are offering a free pattern for a Crocheted Collar , which takes 2 balls and is worked up quickly with a N-15 hook. We also have a kit for a knit Basketweave Cowl available, taking a size 11 needle to complete. We have several more kits and patterns currently in the works, so keep an eye out. We would LOVE to see what you create with Aspen so please share with us!
