Use our vintage pattern to crochet this afghan. Color image scanned from 1960s catalog. Originally made using sportweight yarn, Mary Maxim Mellowspun or Mellowmist had 420 yards per skein. You will find Mary Maxim Mellowspun and all the current sportweight yarn selections on www.marymaxim.com. Please note, that yardages and color options have changed. Requires Afghan Hook size J-10 (6 mm). Finished measurements 48" x 68" (122 x 173 cm). This will be a statement piece in your home decor!
Stitch Requirements: Knit, purl, cast on, cast off, stockinette stitch, and embroidery stitches.

I've been using this sock yarn for years now and my son's girlfriend has been buying the socks from me to give to her friends. Everyone loves them! All the money I raise goes to a local charity that helps people who are homeless or need help. I am also giving a pair to each of the nurses who give me my monthly infusions. I was worried when there were only a few colors left so I went on a buying spree and I think I have enough yarn to last for a few years. I'm glad to see many of the favorite colors are back in stock, so I may have to snatch up some more when free shipping comes around again! (A suggestion to people who run out of yarn when making a pair: I use a solid color yarn for the toes and those socks are very popular)
