Mary Maxim Wrapped to the Point Shawl #98898N

I just finished making this shawl using Lion Brand Homespun Stripes color Aubergine 603 (equivalent to what pattern calls for). While it is a fairly simple pattern, you need to track all your rows because you're working back and forth and counting stitches. I finally resorted to placing a stitch marker wherever the W&T happened on the back-and-forth rows. Since you need to turn your work every row, after the second fan you start accumulating a lot of bulk which becomes a nuisance. You have no clue as to what this shawl will look like until you are completely finished and I was disappointed. You end up with 5 points (resulting in the 5 fans) and it is not flattering whatsoever. Looks good on the model! Finished shawl looks like the middle (or 3rd) point should sit in the middle of your back but it's too short and the finished product does not appear in balance. I would not make a second one and in fact am considering taking it apart because the wool I used is quite attractive and expensive. This was a waste of time.
