I love to crochet, I love hummingbirds. What could be better. I have not tried mosaic crochet with color changes in the rows. For me this is a new challenge. I do have to say that although I have not completed this project, I have found that there is a mistake in the written pattern in row 25. (I'm not sure if this issue has been addressed yet. I did buy this kit approximately 3 years ago)
In row 25, the written pattern states fldc below in next 39 st, that part should be fldc in next 42 st.
I'm not sure if there are any other errors but in any case, I am thrilled with the afghan kit and enjoying the new technique.

I just ordered this kit for my first order from Mary Maxim. It came super fast and in a nice zippered bag. The yarn is super soft. I am excited to start this throw as soon as I finish the throw I am currently working on.
Pattern is very difficult to follow, but once I figured it out I was able to breeze through. Love the yarn and colors!

I made this for my sister, who I knew would love the colors - and she did. It was pretty easy and the yarn is superb. Beautiful throw.
I purchased this kit to make a wedding gift for my grandson and his fiancé.,It is not yet completed. I have about 10 out of 45 squares done. The yarn is soft and incredibly easy to work with. I was surprised by the colors. I expected it to be more of a rose color than purple, but it is still very pretty. I am an experienced crocheter but I did find the directions difficult to follow at first. I’ve finally worked it out, and the squares are pretty.
This made up so pretty, that I will have to give it away. Everyone I showed it to just fell in love with it. Probably too delicate for a rough & tumble teens/pets home. More the one you throw over the couch for everyone to ooh & ahh. So fun to reach the point where you don’t have to look at the instructions to do the square. Super easy & fast joining of squares, so that was a big boost right there at the end. I decided to assemble the squares in a 5x6 array, instead of the 5x7 array. Just my preference. With remaining yarn, I will create one or 2 pillow covers, trying to guess at using the remaining yarn in such a way that I vary the pattern to eat up the remaining yarn and still enough to make 2, hopefully.

Our Mellowspun is a fan favorite and we don't typically hear complaints on this yarn. As far as splitting goes, I highly recommend trying a different hook.
