Learnt to knit just so I could make this cardigan

I am a complete newbie. Never knew how to knit but I practiced and learnt all the required techniques before I worked with my actual yarn. The multi coloured intarsia is quite hard for beginners so I would recommend using only 2 colours for intarsia and duplicate stitch the remaining colours and details. Completed the prohject in 1.5 months and while it definitely doesn't look as good as an experienced knitter since I've made a lot of mistakes on the intarsia parts, I am very proud of my cardigan :> Amaze amaze amaze!

Thrilled with the result but the pattern could have more detail

Compared to newer patterns there isn't much detail on how to do things. There is no schematic diagram with sizes.
However there is lots of help on the Internet on how to make the Hail Mary Cardigan.
My son was really pleased with the completed item and I enjoyed making it.

Some areas rather complex

I previously knitted the Anglers Pride for my son and his fiancee requested this one. I found this more difficult, the faces of the Woves were very complicated and not easier in Intarsia. I eventually did him using duplicate stitch in certain parts,

PHM Fox Sweater

My sweater is the PHM version. The pattern is well-written and easy to follow.

One mistake in the pattern is that the paws on the bottom of the left front panel are going the wrong direction -- they're all supposed to wrap in one direction around the cardigan but the paws on this panel go the opposite way. I just followed the chart for the paws from the other front panel.

Overall, this was an awesome pattern and a lot of fun to make! I'm a beginner knitter but I was still able to figure it all out.

The Project Hail Mary Pattern!

Was so stoked to learn that this was the real pattern adapted for Project Hail Mary's iconic fox cardigan! This was my second time ever trying knit colourwork, first time on a garment. Sized up one needle size as I am a 46-48" bust but really I could have kept the suggested gauge. Grid was easy to edit using stills from the movie to get the fox look, and I bought chunky acrylic yarn as I could not afford the kit. A really fun knit with some great new skills to learn - I loved the pocket construction!

Fun challenging project

Glad this vintage pattern was available although older patterns like this one are sparse on written instructions, the charts explain it all. Readily found moviemotif modifications and I'm on my way!

I’m really enjoying this knitting pattern

I’m really enjoying this knitting pattern. I do not have any experience with fair isle knitting, and it is good to learn. When I downloaded the pattern, the page is were out of sequence, but it was an easy fix. I’m knitting it all at once, instead of in pieces and upsizing it as I’m larger than the pattern measurements. Really enjoying the experience.

Great pattern hard to adapt to NZ

I love how easy the actual pattern is but it was hard to adapt it to Nz. The yarn is unavailable here but I worked on it and found a remedy.

Directions were easy to understand as a beginner ~ didn’t realize it was all acrylic for $90 and I

Directions were easy to understand as a beginner ~ didn’t realize it was all acrylic for $90 and I hate acrylic !! Made the sweater and turned out great pattern-wise but won’t be wearing. Some of the skeins had inconsistent gauge and had random knots in them from joining yarn mid-skein in manufacturing. Sheds crazy!! Wouldn’t purchase again but definitely will redo pattern with better, higher quality yarn.

Fabulous pattern

Great pattern. Well written with good explanations. I have never knitted anything with a colour graphic before, so I am taking it very slow. I had to enlarge the graphs so I could write stitch counts onto them.

Wonderful pattern

Wonderful pattern. Easy download and good clear instructions. The use of graphs for more or less the complete cardigan is genius. My wonderful sweater is coming along nicely. I'm not the quickest knitter but inspired after the film Project Hail Mary. So I have just changed the colour. I would have liked to buy the complete kit which I considered a very good price but unfortunately I live in the UK and the postage was going to be about $200. I don't know why. Its a shame.

The instructions are very easy to follow, and even as a beginner knitter who does not speak english as a first language, I managed to understand everything and my cardigan turned out incredible 🤩

For crafty Project Hail Mary fans!

The charts for the color work are well done, and the pattern description is quite clear. And it is easy to change the colors to make it more like a sweater in the movie.

Have to admit I was influenced to get this after the PHM movie - the design is beautiful and I’m excited to work on it!
