Pattern is nice but yarn is awful..

Love this pattern! It was coming out beautifully until i pulled the 9th skein of yarn out. It was totally 4 straight ply’s of yarn. I lost at least 1 5th of that skein.
Hopefully I have enough to finish. If not, i will buy another skein as I love the project.

Fell is love with this pattern, ordered it, started it, got frustrated with it, ripped it out, started over, same thing. First time that has happened to me in a very, very long time and I consider myself a more or less an intermediate knitter. But I guess I over-rated myself, so I guess it's just me. Well anyhow...I ripped it out and am using a different pattern and am very happy with the lovely yarn......But had to order 3 more skeins. Oh well........

I bought the kit. Love knitting it. It is looking beautiful but I need to order 4 more balls of wool. Did anyone else have this issue?

Easy to work and great yarn

It will be beautiful!!! The yarn is wonderful to work with. I’m enjoying every minute knitting this project. It’ a gift for my daughter, she will love it.

I love this pattern and the afghan is working out to be lovely. I am sure the recipient will be quite pleased.

A very easy pattern to follow, my only suggestion (thanks to customer service) is to make it larger. I like to have knitted afghans fit a queen size bed. Therefore I purchased an additional four skeins of yarn. I gave it to my sister, who absolutely loved it. The finished afghan is beautiful.

I am in the middle of making this afghan. It is beautiful and the pattern is easy enough that I have it memorized and don't need to refer to the directions all the time. Makes is so much more enjoyable to knit.

It was easy to find information on shipment delays on their website. When the warehouse was back in operation, it didn't take unreasonably long to get the order. The wool color is a buttery off-white and the skeins feel dense but soft. I'm very excited to work on this pattern, especially with more time at home. It seems like a good bridge between beginner and intermediate.

I started this pattern to check gauge. I don't know who does your math but this pattern is total incorrect. It says to cast on 234 sts. The knitting instructions are correct, however, if you add up the gauge you will have a width of 49.75 inches not 44". 234 sts gives you 8 boarder stitches = 1.5". 7-31 stitch patterns at 6.5" each = 45.5" plus one 9 sts pattern at 1.5" gives you a total of 49.75". With this extra width you will require 12 skeins of 4 ounce aran instead of the 9 included in the kit. Finished size will be approximately 50 x 60 excluding fringe. So, I am going to have to order 4 additional skeins to complete the 60" length.

The photo and written pattern didn't match when I purchased this kit. Mary Maxim was good about sending out a correction, but I was already into the project and didn't start over. The pattern as written in my kit is ok, just different from what is pictured. The seed stitch border curls inward, and the top and bottom have a ripple effect because of the cables and v pattern. If I make it again, I'll definitely revise the top/bottom and side edges to reduce the curl. I purchased an additional skein when I bought the kit and I needed it to finish the project (I did not add the fringe). The yarn worked up very nicely. It's definitely a warm and comforting afghan.

I haven’t started this one yet as I am finishing another Afghan. I love the Aran yarn and the Aran patterns.

For a novice or experienced knitter this is a great pattern and the yarn is super soft.
