I've enjoyed working on this baby afghan. I like the yellow as the main color since it's a good color either a boy or girl. The yarn has a nice feel and crochets up nice. The pattern for the most part was easy. However I had to adjust a couple of things. Row 23: should be repeat Row 9 instead of Row 3 (do to stitch count). Also the repeat rows 13-26 for pattern six times more. I only had enough yellow to do 5 repeats. Then Row 3 of the Border the repeat for in between the corners (sc in next ch-5sp, 5 dc in next ch-sp) it didn't look right so I looked at the picture and it shows 7 dc, which looks much better. I still plan to make another one in a different color. It's a nice blanket & it will work for a baby's car seat.

Holding 3 strands of yarn together isn't as easy as it sounds. Even if you separate each ball and put each ball in a holder, bags, etc. I found a much easier solution and no tangling of the yarn. Combine 3 strands together and wind into one large ball; knitting goes faster and no problem with tangling.

I've purchased many afghans kits from Mary Maxim. This one looked like it would be a fairly quick project. I finished in a little over a month. I found the graph easy to follow by folding a piece of paper to place above the line I was working. The yarn was easy to work with. So why the 2 star rating? I was expecting the snowman to be more visible. The picture online and the one that comes with the kits shows the snowman plainly. Maybe they sewed a white backing on the back to help the snowman stand out. I had thought about purchasing some of the other filet crochet, but since I prefer to see the design I've worked so diligently to get right, I think I'll pass on other projects of this type.

This is the first time I've done a graphed filet pattern and it turned out really nice. The Mary Maxim Best Value yarn is very similar to Simply Soft, so soft and easy to work with.

I just finished this throw and am really disappointed in the outcome. The yarn was ok. The graph was easy enough to follow. I used a folded piece of paper to place above the line I was working to help keep my place.. My main issue is after working a month on this project the design doesn't stand out. I even laid it out on my bed's mattress pad and I still had a problem seeing the design. I have no idea what I'll do with it. The idea of the scene is nice, but putting all that work in and not being able to see the design is a real let down. I've decided that the throw in the picture must have had a white fabric sewed to the back to help the snowman standout.

Love the design, but the pattern is very difficult, and I’ve done many filet patterns.
The yarn colors are beautiful (Teal and Merlot) but the yarn has been one big knot at the end of every single skein.
I would not buy this yarn again.

I have written to Mary Maxim, but did not get a replay. I am very disappointed with the quality recently of products. In this kit, I had eight different areas where the yarn was tied together within one skein. I ended up throwing all the yarn away and making the throw with other yarn.

The yarn is very soft. The instructions are fairly easy to read for some who have problems reading crochet written instructions, the graph was easier for me. Now all I have to learn is how to count, ripped it out a few times because of counting.
I love it. Will be making it for a Christmas pattern. Your designs are lovely, and the patterns/charts are easy to follow.

Love this throw, but I bought it thinking that there was white spaces. There are not. It's only the blue color and the white is actually blank space. But it's beautiful either way.
I ordered this kit and was 4 skeins into the project when I decided to view it in bright light against a light background and found that my skeins were not all the same dye lot - a must for any crafter. A lot pf wasted hours for an unusable gift. Won't buy another kit from Mary Maxim.
