Reliable, sturdy canvas

Since it appears that everyone's go-to canvas for half a century, Darice, is apparently no longer available, and so many online outlets are charging $2-$3 per sheet for their substandard sock, I was overjoyed when I found I could get this substitute canvas, in bulk, at a respectful price. I have so far ordered two lots of this quantity and see no reason to look anywhere else so far. It is consistent throughout the pieces, stiff without being that ultra-stiff version you can sometimes get, and allows me to continue the hobby I have been enjoying for half a century. Thanks for keeping the hobby going.

Not enough mosaic color yarn in kit

This was easy to follow but I have been experienced in doing mosaic crocheting. However, I will not have enough of the Cuddle color yarn and needed to order another skein.

I had a difficult time following the instructions, I’m used to reading 2sc, 3 dc etc. she wrote sc x 2, dc x 3, my eye kept going off. Used the yarn to make my own design. The others were return for that reason.

Love this pattern!

I love doing mosaic crochet and this pattern is a real keeper!! Sorry to see that the Premier Basix Mosaic yarn is no longer in stock. I made the kit with the "Cuddle/Aran" combo, and then made another blanket with Premier Colorfusion yarn (Salt water taffy). The size is just right for a baby/child blanket and very beautiful.

Beautiful pattern. Great yarn choice. Wish the instructions were user friendly. Aka why isn’t the chart on its own page and bigger? There is also multiple watermarks in the middle of the chart. I even took a picture and used my massive iPad. It’s hard to read.

Mosaic Crochet Baby Blanket

I don't have issues with the supplies from Mary Maxim, as always top quality products. My issue is with the directions by the designer. I purchased a book on this type of crochet to get a better understanding.

No Gauge - Not enough of accent mosaic color yarn

There is no gauge information in the pattern and I ran out of the basix mosaic color as there was far less weight of those in 2 skeins than in the basix acrylic. So unfortunately I will have to go back buy another skein from premier to finish because this yarn is not sold separately on the Mary Maxim website. So it is a bummer but it is a nice pattern and I like how it is working up

Unfortunately the link in the instructions for the video is no longer viable. The link takes you to her video where she is selling her e-book. There are no written instructions for the border except for a video. I'm sure it will be a pretty blanket, but not having any written instructions for the border is not acceptable.

Beautiful Afghan colors

Just received this kit. Colors are so pretty. Can't wait to try this new pattern.

Not for a novice in this mosaic technique!!!

Horrible instructions. I had to rip it out twice, before I finally got the hang of it. The pattern does not tell you which color is the main color, and which is the contrast, or on which row you should start the contrast. (I think row 3). The Designer's website is printed in the pattern. There is no free tutorial for this pattern; just a generic one for the technique. And you can only view it once. The pattern really requires 3 skeins of what I think is the contrast color. (the variegated skeins have fewer yards than the linen skeins) But the pattern says it needs only 2. Mary Maxim advises me that I should call them, before I contact the designer, but the the designer's information was provided on the pattern, so I tried her first. Mary Maxim's customer service is excellent. Yarn is ok, but does splay. It pulls from the skeinwell. The linen color is soft, but the variegated yarn is a little rough. The blanket ends up in an odd dimension, 35 inches, by 32.... I usually like the length to be equal to or longer than the width.
