Who created this stitch??

This is my first time buying a kit and may be my last. There is a part of the pattern that is so confusing that I may have to use a different stitch to create the texture for that particular section.

Fortunately I thought to search for pattern corrections and there is one on this site for this pattern but it doesn't cover the area with the problematic stitch...trdcCL. What stitch is that?!?!? I've never seen this abbreviation.

Thankfully, when I cam here to write this review I decided to read the other reviews and lucky I did. Julie had the same problem and made some adjustments to the pattern which I'm going to try.

Wish me luck.

PS I like the yarn and the way it works up with a substantial feel and weight.

It’s great for a beginner

This is a well
Written pattern, but I’m not a great fan of the yarn. It’s not a terrible yarn, but it’s not my favorite Mary maxium yarn.

Nice outcome but had to make changes to pattern a bit

I have been crocheting for about 20 years and this is only the second kit I have every done. Both were Mary Maxim kits with Mary Maxim yarn, which I found easy to work with, not too many joined sections in all of the yarn for the kits, though I did find the Mary Maxim Max Value yarn to fuzz quite a bit once gentle washed and dried the first time. I also found sections of a few skeins to have discolored yarn, a brownish tinge which is barely noticeable in finished throw, but not thrilled about that. I had enough yarn, even enough to add a final round of crab stitch to the throw, which I think finished it off nicely. To those who also had some issues with the pattern, I did as well. If I did pattern as written, the right side of the stitches did not always come out on the right side. Also, there were a few miswritten text that may cause confusion. So here are the corrections I had to make in case this will help those who are like me and ran into some difficulty:

Row 13, where it states "following first leg of previous Loop St", I believe this should read, "following first leg of previous trdcCL st". Row 15, where it says, "first leg worked around 2nd dc one row below", I believe this should read, "first leg worked around 2nd dc two rows below". After Row 35 there should be another Repeat Row 3. Row 40 should repeat Row 38 except there needs to be a dc before the first *. After Row 41 there should be another Repeat Row 3. So if you are trying to follow the pattern exactly and running into issues, give these small changes a try and see if it comes out right for you!

Also, the angled front post stitches seem to pull quite tightly. I tried easing the tension but no matter what I did, the edges of the blanket at the zigzag front post stitch section would not lay smooth. If I make this blanket again, I will try yarning over 3 times rather than 2 when doing the angled front post stitches to try to ease some of the tightness in that area.

Overall for the cost and the final outcome, I say this throw is worthy of 4 stars but not five.

Crazy trdcCl

This pattern does not match the photo and the trdcCl stitch is crazy hard and I can’t find it anywhere else. Please help if you have any solution.

The pattern did not match

The pattern did not match the Afghan pictured. I managed to figure out the stitches necessary to match the Afghan pictured, but I'm not sure I'll have enough yarn.

Fun pattern

I enjoy the different stitches used in this pattern. I have been crocheting for about 20 years and this is the first time I have tackled the loop stitch. My only problem with the instructions is that the explanation for doing the loop stitch was incomplete. I worked through it several times and the loops were not locked in. The length of my loops was not staying where I put them. I watched a few videos online and found out that I had to go around the front section of yarn a certain way before I grabbed the back section. Before I was just grabbing the back section of the yarn. After I tried the new way, my loops were finally locked in place. Also, in the picture of the blanket, it looks like the loops were cut. If so, I didn't see anything in the instructions that said to cut the loops. Other than that I am happy with the pattern and the yarn.

Interesting throw

I had some difficulties to understand few rows, so I modified the pattern a little bit, added a complimenting color and my afghan turned out beautiful. The yarn is nice and it was easy to work with.
