Beautiful afghan

I find the frequent tie off and weaving of ends to be a chore. The yarn is soft. I have only done a few blocks at this point, but I find the directions clear.

This Afghan was fun to make. Starlette yarn is one of my favourites - consistently good quality. The pattern was easy to follow.

Like this kit very much. Can't wait to gift it to my son for Christmas.

Would have preferred all of the yarn to be the same type. It's a good blanket with nice patterned blocks, and lovely colours... but for $90 I would expect all yarn to be the same. Bernat isn't the same as Starlette and doesn't work up as nicely. I've had to adjust the patterns a bit because of this. Please ask before sending substituted yarn if customers would be okay with this.

The kit is really straight forward, and I really enjoy the patterns for the different blocks. However, I'm somewhat frustrated with the substituted yarn. I would prefer to have all the same type of yarn instead of different types. Bernat super value isn't the same as the starlette, and doesn't work up as nicely. For $90, I'd expect something to have all the same type of yarn, especially with it being a kit. I would have waited longer for the kit if it meant having the same type of yarn.

The yarn in this kit is fantastic! The pattern is great- easy to understand and very detailed. Great price when on sale! Easy stitches and easy construction. Highly recommend this kit.

I'm very frustrated with this kit. It was supposed to have Starlette yarn. Instead, I got Starlette, Hobii and Nako (horrible yarn!). They claim to be the same size but they aren't. They are different twists, wpi, lofts, etc. Because of this, they don't work up the same. I'm constantly changing hook sizes and even changing row counts. It's brutal. I've never frogged so much on such a simple pattern. At least the pattern is pretty well written. I've only noticed 1 error and it was minimal.

As a side note, don't cut your thread on the plaid rectangles as recommended. Carry them up the sides. The border will cover it and there's far less ends to weave in.

The afghan is beautiful and the colors and quality of the yarn are great. I think the writing of the instructions could have been better with a few pictures . I made one of the plaid blocks incorrectly because the instructions were not clear. but it still fits the overall look

As with my last pattern from Mary Maxim, the pictures in this pattern do not show colours accurately. It’s yet another bad colour printer copy. Last kit I ordered, no yellows appeared, probably due to low ink. We expect more for the price of these kits!

Also, there is only one graph (for the stag block) when it would have been VERY helpful for the plaid ones, as well. The explanations are long and hard to follow, especially if you haven’t trying “carrying over” yarn before when crocheting in multiple colours at once.

A suggested link to show the technique or at least some explanation would have been helpful. It certainly is not “Intermediate” without all of this.

I’m disappointed.

I bought the kit and love it! There's always enough yarn (usually a lot if extra) and it's easy to do. it takes a bit if time (about 3 weeks working only in the evenings) but it's worth it.

i love the packages available at Mary Maxim. so easy to read and the quality of yarn is so nice

I made this as a Christmas gift. I’m so pleased with how it turned out. The quality of yarn is excellent! Perfect weight throughout. I arranged my squares a bit differently. Love it!

kit was back ordered but was as described. I haven't yet completed the project but the directions so far have been easy to follow.

I’m so excited to get started on this afghan. Gotta practice the stitches first!! Lol

Took several months for back orders to be filled. The substituted ball of wool was not as nice as the rest in the kit, not as soft nor as easy to work with. Found a few errors in the pattern but the picture helped with figuring how to proceed. Blocks worked up quickly. Working on the block borders and sewing the strips together. Will make a very nice Xmas gift.

I have been looking for the pattern of this beautiful afghan. Unfortunately, I have been unable to locate one.

I had my eye on this afghan for a while until it came back in stock. I scooped it up quick. I just bought this afghan kit in May and I was addicted. I finished it in record time. I love how easy it was to make the squares and put them together. I originally made it for my stepdad as he is a deer hunter but now my husband wants one. The colors will match perfectly in my living room so I've already started making squares with the leftover wool until I can order more of the Starlette. This is just a gorgeous pattern and I loved making it.
