Wisteria afghan

I did this one for my girlfriend. She loves purple. She loved the afghan and it was not that hard to do. You just have to watch your tension throughout...

Wisteria color

I did this Afghan and it was my first round Afghan. I worked in wisteria for a friend of mine. I should have probably have made it a little tighter. It turned out to be pretty big... She loves it so I'm happy!

The pattern was well written,

The pattern was well written, and worked up pretty fast. The color I chose for the afghan was beautiful and very soft. I have crocheted for over 60 years and just started buying kits - and have not been disappointed with the ones from MM

Worth The Effort

This is one project that if you make a mistake you absolutely must go back a frog it since the next row won’t be right if you don’t. But the result is that you have a perfectly crocheted Afghan and is so worth the extra time a effort! I made mine in an ecru colorway and I couldn’t be more pleased with the finished outcome. It looks like a vintage piece from an antique store. I display it on my dark green sofa like the picture. I should make another one......

beautiful!

I've made this afghan four times in different colors for gifts (plus one for me). It is just beautiful in any color and makes a statement wherever it's displayed.

No problems!

Received this kit as a gift. As stated before, there is a lot of counting and re-counting, but when all is said and done, it is gorgeous and definitely worth the effort. The question of where do you block an afghan was asked in previous reviews. I placed a cotton blanket on top of my king size bed and used it. First I put the afghan in the washing machine and filled it with cold water. Once the tub was filled I pushed the afghan gently into the water a few time. I then set my machine on gentle, slow spin ..NO AGITATION.. drained the water and allowed a slow spin for approximately 5 minutes. I then laid it out on the bed andgently pulled and smoothed it into shape. I turned on the overhead fan and came back in a few hours to a beautifully blocked afghan.
Sorry this is so long, but blocking this afghan is..no problem!

Pretty Pattern

I agree with the other reviewers. I'm in the middle of this afghan, and I selected Camel as the color. The color on my iPad did not match the color received. It is more like oatmeal. I was a bit disappointed since I think of camel as a beige with more orange. But it is still a nice color. It does come with Best Value yarn. When I saw the label, I was skeptical, however, it is a nice 4 ply, not stiff or itchy. Haven't attempted to wash, but I think I'd dry clean because, as mentioned, where can you lay out an afghan to dry? I usually give them away, so I don't worry too much. I also think the price is on the high side.

The pattern, IMO, is on the difficult side. I wish the stitch count was listed on every instruction. It does get difficult if you don't count and miss a stitch, because the next row is affected. But we experienced crocheters know how to fix anything, right? Use stitch counters or markers if you have them.

It does have I stitch I've never heard of, or used before, the Half Triple Crochet. You'll also use the cross stitch, singles, double, triple, and slip stitch. But I'm not done yet, so if I come across anything interesting I'll post more.

Very beautiful

I made this for a gift. It is very beautiful and unusual and my friend loved it. I had anticipated making one for myself, but there was so much counting and re-counting that I probably will not make another one. I also am not crazy about the Mary Maxim yarn that comes with the kit. It says that it can go in the dryer, but the directions suggest taking out of the dryer after 2 minutes and drying flat. Where do you put an afghan to dry flat?

Beautiful!

This pattern makes an absolutely beautiful blanket. Have made several for wedding gifts and always rave reviews. Just make sure to count stitches on each row. Abacus bracelet counter is a great way to keep track of where your at. Does take some time and patience but definitely worth the effort.
