Great yarn and pattern

It's a beautiful blanket; I've just won a blue ribbon at my county fair with the completed blanket done in white. The stitches are small and the rounds do get very long as you get to the border, but for the most part the entire blanket is plain knitting with just the increases at each corner, and by the time you get to the longer border rounds the pattern becomes interesting and complex, which is motivational, so I found the project fun to complete and went very quickly. I plan to make others in various yarns: it would make a lovely larger, winter-weight blanket in a dk or worsted weight. Pay attention as you set up each side at the center, and as you knit the lace border, to ensure that you're not straying from the pattern motifs, and that your stitch counts remain correct on each side through the first 20 rounds or so while you establish the increase patterns. Probably best for knitters who have some experience following lace patterns and circular project like doilies. I found the recommended circular needle length much too short to accommodate my stitches comfortably. I purchased a 60-inch circular which was perfect, but using three 24- to 36-inch circs would also work. The yarn is soft and works up well without splitting.

Blanket is beautiful but VERY time-consuming

This blanket is really lovely, but it really takes a long time, and the final number of stitches on the needle gets very crowded. I put 2 40 inch interchangeables together eventually, but stitches were still crowded. For the first section of the blanket, I used k into the front and back of the stitches for the increases rather than yo's, as I found the yo in each row made for much larger holes than I wanted. For the leaf border, I used the yo's as they were only in every other row and so holes were smaller. Instructions were clear and easy to follow once the correction made to the pattern in October 2013 was done, but I would make this pattern again only for a VERY SPECIAL baby,.
