Description
Knit a warm pair of socks or hat with this vintage pattern. Always have a warm pair of socks on hand when you make them yourself! Created originally using a bulky weight yarn, Artik, which offered 130 yds per 3 oz skein at the time. Head over to our yarn section to pick the perfect bulky-weight yarn for your project—just remember that yardage can differ from brand to brand, so plan accordingly! We highly recommend Mary Maxim Titan! Materials List: Hat (1 skein), Socks (2 skeins), knitting needles size U.S. 10.5 (6.50 mm). Socks fit average 10.5 to 11, and the hat fits a 22" head size. Intermediate knit.
Stitch Requirements: Cast on, cast off, knit, purl, stockinette stitch, increase, decrease, repeat, slip stitch, stocking stitch, through the back stitch, place marker.

This is my current go-to base yarn for my baby blankets. It's a soft, lighter weight cotton with just enough blended fibers to make it washable and smoother to work with than the standard kitchen cottons. Similar (or almost the same) as the Bernat Softee cotton yarn, but the colors are more pastel and muted. I hope this doesn't get phased out so I'm buying up all the "cotton" color I can afford!
