I have always wanted to make this pattern so I made the purchase when they went on sale. They are so easy and the pattern is easy to follow. The kit came with it's own yarn, but I used the pattern using a variegated red, white and blue cotton yarn that I had in my stash to make a 4th of July decoration for my mom's apartment door and it came out beautiful. Differences Between Vintage and Digital Pattern

I bought this digital pattern to use to finish a project for the Loose Ends Project because it's easier for me to work with a digital pattern and that way I don't have to mark the original, vintage pattern that came with the project. I called customer service to see if it would work with the kit I have and they said the only difference between the two is the amount of yarn called for because the ball size has changed over the years, which isn't a problem for me. However, the pattern calls for knit and purl stitches in one section when otherwise it uses crochet (and the correct since this is a crochet project) terms - customer service said I'd get a free, updated version whenever that issue is fixed (no time estimate given). And the symbols, it turns out, are not the same across the vintage and digital pattern which means I'm going to have to print part of this pattern and waste paper when my initial plan was to use the vintage pattern as my symbol/color key. I'm pretty disappointed.
