It was a gift for my best friend who loves cardinals .She was ecstatic over it . Thank you

I really enjoyed working on this blanket. I just finished the second one. It’s quite a challenge, you have to be on your toes making this one to be sure to crochet over top of the loose yarn from the previous row.
I was disappointed however with the substitutions of yarn that was out of stock. The green yarn was too thin so luckily I had green Starlette yarn left from a previous project. The red that was substituted was a bit thicker than the red starlette. So to compensate for that , for the border I used a 4.5 mm hook instead of the 5.5 mm I used on the body of the blanket. But as you can see in the picture my border still turned out wavy.

UPDATE: I spoke with Customer Service and they are sending the yarn originally called for in the pattern. They made it SO easy and took care of everything. I wish I had called first: Absolutely BEST Customer Service experience I've had in a long time.
So far I really like the pattern and really appreciate the detailed explanations of the designer. My issue is the yarn substitution. Red Heart Super Saver was substituted for the Cream Starlette in the description. I really tried to believe the note that said it was of comparable quality and I started the blanket. I am 19 rows in and realizing the substitute is stiff and scratchy and I despise working with it. Meanwhile, I truly enjoy working with the Starlette (which I've not used before) and have realized how badly I was misled. I've had my eye on this project for years and now am just thoroughly disappointed and honestly at a loss for what to do now. Had they substituted one of the other colors it may not have bothered me so much but this is the MAIN yarn creating this piece. I avoid ordering kits with Super Saver because I used it years ago and disliked it. I hoped it had changed but, sadly, it is as I remembered it.

A lovely and fun pattern to crochet.

I was not satisfied with the yarn substitution. Instead of white it is aran which does not work as well with the rest of the colours. Also the Brown Heather was replaced with Barley and the Deep Green was replaced with Fern Green. Could we be given the choice to accept or not when substitutions are being made?

This was my first time crocheting a mosaic afghan. It was challenging but I love the result.

I've just started this one and so far it is easy to understand and follow. When I vinish this one I will be ordering the bluebirds.

Haven't started yet love the pattern but from picture thought the background was white but is actually a beige.

The design of Cardinal Forest is very beautiful. My only disappointment is with the color of the background. I expected a white or off-white background, but what arrived was a much deeper beige color. It was labeled as “orchid.”

I love the design of the afghan. The written directions are fairly easy to follow and I like the links to videos of the techniques. The green yarn came in little bundles tho and I wasted time rolling it into balls, hence the rating of 4.

This is a beautiful Afghan. The instructions are very clear although initially very daunting as there’s quite few pages. I recommend watching the videos as this makes the process even clearer

I love the cardinal pattern. I'm crocheting this one especially for my daughter-in-law who also loves cardinals. She feels the cardinals, when they are near, are messages from her son who died when he was only 21.

I’m halfway done and I have to say, it’s one of the hardest I have done (including doing complicated projects like Persian Tiles plus other mosaic crochet blankets). The instructions are overly wordy and not very clear, in my opinion. The video I watched is very poor quality and shows her making repeated mistakes, which complicates matters further. It should have been reshot and done right. Not the quality I expect from Mary Maxim. It should be lovely when done (hence 2 stars) but it’s been a real trial.

received my order with a note stating they had substituted colors. Instead of the grey they sent me a dirty green-brown called "barley" ... A very different look from the picture. They could have contacted me and given me the opportunity to cancel the order instead of sending it to me and sticking me with the shipping fees to receive it and to return it. . Not cool Mary Maxim .. not cool at all.
