Beautiful Review by Peggy

This is a beautiful afghan that is easy to make. The hardest part is weaving in the ends and putting it together. The yarn was great, I have worked with Simply Soft before and do like it. I did have extra yarn and should have made it a little bigger but I did it for a fundraiser and didn't have extra time. When I make it again, I will make it with 3 rounds of color and do the black in double crochet - which will make the blanket bigger. Over all this afghan is a real winner.

love pattern Review by Barbara

Pattern is easy, goes together good, but I am not a fan of this yarn
as I have croched & knitted for 50 plus years, have made lots of
block types & this one is for looks only, not to keep you warm.
I do appreciate some of the other hints though, might use up the
extra yarn by adding rows.Thanks.

Love this afghan! Review by Amy

I love the colors and love Simply Soft yarn. I have made many baby and full size afghans with it. I found the finished afghan to be a bit small, so I added 2 rows to the top and bottom and 2 columns on each side.

Definitely a Winner - Not your Granny's Granny Review by Maryanne

So much fun! The colors are so great, keeping you interested to see it through to the end. The pattern of the squares is what makes this granny square afghan unique, and since it is granny squares, it's easy for any level crocheter. The colors in my kit were very close to the pic except the green I got was lime. It fit in well, though. All the colors worked great together! I would suggest that when working the black border on each square, you end the row by joining with a half double, like the first row of the granny. This leaves the long leftover yarn to use to whip stitch the squares together right in the middle of that corner. But this is just what I did, following the pattern works fine, too. The way I worked mine was to start in the center and join each square around, until you are left with joining just on either end to make it a rectangle. For some reason, I never even considered working this in rows. Again, either way works.

One final note, I found the grid very difficult to follow easily. So, I wrote the color initial in each square so I didn't have to keep referring to the color chart on the first page. Maybe this was because I did not make all the squares first, then join them all. I joined them after I had enough for a row to be joined.

I've had my eye on this kit for a while, and it think it was out of stock at one point, so I made sure to finally get it. I also thought about just buying the yarn myself and just follow the pattern by eye, but I've found you can rarely find all the colors in any store in stock, and I think these colors are perfect together. So, the kit is definitely worth it! This yarn is fun to work with, too. So super soft with a very nice drape.

I've purchased oodles of kits on Mary Maxim kits, and every one was great fun and I did not have the stress of finding a pattern, then choosing the yarn, then finding the yarn. The kit makes it so easy!

Granddaughter loves it Review by Dawn

I ordered it just to have something to do and try out the yarn. I have never worked with this brand of yarn before. The yarn was lighter then I was use to, but over all it was easy to work with. The only thing was the yellow was not as bright as I thought it would be, but I'm happy with the out come. Thinking about making another one.

I had a lot of fun making this afghan. I made the first one for my daughter. Then I bought extra yarn and made a second one. I enjoyed working on this. It is colorful and bright and wakes up a room.

It looks brighter in the picture. It is really nice. Easy pattern, works up quickly. Put away in cedar chest for the first grandchild to come.
