Price Ease of Use Quality Easy to make cute child's hat. Can do most of the hat on circular needle then switch to double points for decreases only, which may be easier than starting with double points. I prefer a set of five double points, four in the work and one to knit with, but many prefer a set of double points as called for in the pattern. If you knit a lot and have a lot of needles of different types to experiment with, then starting with a circular needle for seven inches and switching to five double points for decreases in the crown makes sense. Otherwise just follow the directions exactly for a very easy comfortable hat.
